Artistic Framing

Not only do I have small home improvement projects on the table, but my creative endeavors now include framing my miniature pieces on canvas. I don't know why it's taken me so long to do this.  I bought a cream colored spray paint for the frame but it didn't work out very well. Since I have about 7 minis on canvas, my plan was to have all of the frames the same color but pulling colors out of the painting itself not only enhances the art, it becomes a part of the work. Several pieces will make a nice ensemble. On...

New Work, New Lifestyle and Faith Ringgold

Interestingly enough, I'm two weeks on the vegan path and I found myself with a vicious cold that hit me on Sunday. I'm about 75% today but gee wee, it was rough! I pushed myself to complete a piece through it all. About two years ago, I was visiting my acupuncturist to relieve me of some health issues and because I eventually resorted back to die-hard eating habits that didn't benefit my overall health, the problem resurfaced. I've rearranged some things on the site and added a piece today. The 8 x 8 resin prints on wood will be in the category of souvenirs instead of prints. I think it would be wise to not add anymore categories since there are 7 now, which give the layout an odd finish. As far as my work, no more categories but as I type this, I could add a category for videos and another for something fun but I'm not sure what.                                   ...

Untitled No. 2

It's a rainy day in Georgia. That being said, I won't be cutting wood in my extended studio today, which is the garage. I am, however, conceptualizing my promo, which will be a combination of stop motion and still photos.  So here's the direction... I'm a 70s kinda chiq. I'm stuck there. I have so many memories of growing up during that time. And not that my work is autobiographical. It was just the best of times. I tend to reflect on my southerness, if you will but the more I flip through my sketches, everyone looked so 70ish in...

Reflecting to Move Forward

Reflecting to Move Forward

But I Like This Hairstyle is an earlier work I created after discovering my artistic voice. That voice will change sometimes, though for me, not significantly. I won't share much about those changes but I'm excited about the direction or angle my work will take. I will continue to inject humor, as seen in the painting. There is a similar piece I've started the pattern on called, Getting the Juice. When I say pattern, I mean the paper cut-outs for the wood that will ultimately have to be cut. I've not done anything on paper in some time and my hope is...
